Running to Everest for Alzheimer’s
8,000 miles, one middle aged man, Si Homfray and his trailer ‘Gromit’, are on an unsupported run across 20 countries to climb Everest. The Journey started in August 2013 and will finish in Kathmandu no later than Mar 2016. Then Si aims to have a go at climbing Everest from March 2016 to June 2016.
At 50 years old, after a serious motorbike accident that saw him human cannonball into a dry stone wall, a magical sequence of events led to Si, setting off on his run to Nepal, changing his life forever.
The adventure has only just begun
As at 18th October 2014, Si has completed just under 3,000 miles (5,000 km). He has already run down England, across France, Italy, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia and Greece (Including quick and short crossings of Slovenia and Bosnia Herzegovinia). He is halfway across Turkey from Istanbul heading for the Middle East.

What is The Road Of Many Smiles?
‘The Road of Many Smiles’ is the title of the fundraising campaign and all it’s accompanying ideas. The principle idea is to collect 8,000 images, one for every mile, 8,000 smiley pictures of sponsors, friends and people en route to make a beautiful piece of art at the end, an exhibition, an e-book and a coffee table photo book. One long continuous illustrated end to end piece that shows the variety of cultures, lifestyles and landscapes.
Si aims to raise at least £80,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society so they can speed up finding the necessary treatment for Alzheimer’s dementia. Something very close to his heart.
